Description

Produces very small, opaque plaques on the T. thermophilus HB27c lawn. Strikingly, the closely related T. thermophilus HB27 strain appears resistant to Zuza27 infection (no plaques on the HB27 lawn).

Zuza27 does not lyse the cell culture during infection. Infected cells contain a plasmid replicative form of Zuza27 that can be isolated using plasmid purification kits. It is probably (see the paper) that Zuza27 is capable of integration into the host genome.
